One Shot At A Time

The Art of Presence, Focus and Playing Golf in the Moment

About

Overview

Every great golfer I have ever studied says the same thing.
One shot at a time.

Jack Nicklaus said it. Tiger Woods said it. Arnold Palmer said it. Ben Hogan lived it so
completely that his playing partners described him as almost unreachable between shots. Every
great player across every era has pointed to the same principle as the foundation of their
performance under pressure.

And yet for most golfers, those four words remain exactly that. Words. A phrase they have
heard so many times it has lost all meaning. Something to say after a bad hole rather than
something to actually live inside a round.

After thirty three years of teaching the game at Bloomington Downs in Richmond Hill,
Ontario, I have seen this gap up close more times than I can count. Golfers who understand the
concept intellectually and cannot access it when it matters. Players who can tell you exactly
what one shot at a time means and then stand on the 15th tee thinking about the 18th hole.

This book is my attempt to close that gap. To take a phrase every golfer knows and turn it
into something every golfer can actually use.
