Have you heard of the delayed hit?
When you look at pictures of elite golfers in the downswing you can see how the club "lags" behind the body. This is the so-called "delayed hit" position that is the key to maximum distance.
Makes sense, right? So what is the misconception?
The delayed hit position is an effect - not a cause. When you try to deliberately hold the club back in the downswing, the clubface remains "open" at impact. You know what means.
How do we achieve the delayed hit ?
The position is a result of swinging the club on-plane. Here is a drill that will help you develop the muscle memory to swing on-plane.
